From March 22 to March 24, 2024, the 27th Contemporary Chinese Architectural Creation Forum "Growth" sub-forum series, sponsored by the Organizing Committee of Contemporary Chinese Architectural Creation Forum and the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Shenzhen University, and co-organized by the Student Branch of Architectural Society of China, was held in Shenzhen and achieved a complete success. The forum invited 16 outstanding architects and 71 outstanding architecture students to Shenzhen for a three-day investigation and exchange, which was the first nationwide offline exchange and work exhibition held in decades, creating a highlight of inter-school exchanges with significance of The Times.
In 1990, a student organizing committee was established for the first time in the fifth Architectural Creation Forum hosted by Shenzhen University, leaving a good story. More than 20 outstanding students from 11 architecture universities were invited to gather in Shenzhen, a cutting-edge city, for photo evaluation, exchange and visit, to expand the vision of architecture and establish a deep friendship. Over the past 30 years, the former students have developed vigorously in different fields and cities, emerged as master architects, senior educators and practitioners, and continued to inspire the new generation. More than 30 years later, on March 22 to 24, 2024, Shenzhen University will once again host the 27th Contemporary Chinese Architecture Creation Forum. Under the initiative and convening of Fan Yue, Zhang Zhiyang, Wang Xingtian, Liu Heng and Qi Yi, the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Shenzhen University, together with the Student Branch of the Architectural Society of China, specially set up a sub-forum on Student "Growth" at this forum. The organizer specially invited former students and architecture freshmen to a sub-forum spanning 30 years to conduct a dialogue on the past and future. Outstanding students from 35 architecture schools across the country gathered in Shenzhen to recreate the scene 30 years ago, and participated in a series of wonderful activities such as forum discussions, photo evaluation exchanges and visits with their predecessors, so that architectural students could feel and be engaged in the communication with outstanding predecessors and like-minded-like partners. The theme of the event, "±30", not only reflects on the experience of the construction industry in the past 30 years, but also encourages the imagination of the next 30 years. With the help of the "30+30" time and space span of thinking, predecessors and juniors communicate and collide with each other, jointly draw the way of growth in the past, show the future, reframe the connotation and style of the predecessors and new architects' creation track in the past 30 years, and inherit and innovate.
